IIT Madras invites applications from eligible research scholars in the Department of Physics for an Erasmus+ KA171 student mobility opportunity at the University of Cantabria (UC), Spain, for the Spring Semester of the Academic Year 2026–27.

The University of Cantabria confirms that its KA171 incoming student mobility call is open to students enrolled at partner universities at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels. The Spring Semester mobility is for the 2026–27 academic year and carries an individual support grant of €850/month for up to five months.
2. Eligibility
Applicants should:
- Be currently enrolled as a PhD / Research Scholar in the Department of Physics, IIT Madras.
- Have an academic/research profile relevant to the available academic opportunities at the University of Cantabria.
- Be able to undertake the proposed mobility during the Spring Semester 2026–27.
- Meet the academic, language and other eligibility requirements specified by the University of Cantabria and Erasmus+ KA171 programme.
- Obtain the necessary approval from the relevant IIT Madras academic/research supervisor and department, wherever applicable.
3. Application Documents
Applicants are required to submit the documents prescribed by the University of Cantabria, which include:
- Completed Erasmus+ KA171 Application Form – Credit Mobility Students
- Copy of valid Passport
- Personal Data Form
- CV in Europass format
- Latest Transcript of Records
- Proof of language proficiency / language skills accreditation
- Certificate of Enrolment at IIT Madras
- Learning Agreement for Studies – 2024 Project, as applicable
The University of Cantabria has specified these documents for student applications under the KA171 mobility call.
Applicants should also ensure that the proposed academic/research activities are appropriate for the University of Cantabria and discuss the proposed mobility with their research supervisor before applying.
4. Application and Selection Process

Internal deadline: 15 September 2026
Following the internal selection process, IIT Madras will nominate the selected student and submit the consolidated application and required Applicant Score List Partner HEI to the University of Cantabria by its deadline of 22 September 2026.
Please note that only one student can be nominated from IIT Madras under the available Physics mobility.
5. Important Information
- Selection by IIT Madras does not automatically guarantee final selection by the University of Cantabria.
- The final selection/admission will be subject to the eligibility requirements and assessment by the University of Cantabria.
