This is to inform you about the mandatory approval procedures to be followed before participating in any international opportunities, including internships, fellowships, semester exchanges, summer/winter school programs, joint programs, and research projects.
Before submitting a nomination or application to any such program, you must obtain prior approval from your faculty advisor. This approval can be provided via email, a signed letter (hard copy), or through the workflow, as applicable. This step is essential, regardless of whether the opportunity is international or domestic.
For opportunities circulated or coordinated through our Office of Global Engagement (OGE), an automated email will be sent to your faculty advisor once you submit your nomination to us. This email will include your details and program information, allowing the advisor to review and either approve or reject your nomination. If the opportunity is shared by OGE and you have submitted the nomination to us, you do not need to contact your faculty advisor separately. This system has been in place for past opportunities shared by our office.
Secondly, we have observed instances where students have applied directly to international programs without obtaining prior approval from their faculty advisor. Please note that being selected for a program without prior approval does not guarantee that your visit will be endorsed by the institute. It also places constraints on your faculty advisor and the HoD to approve your visit.
Therefore, it is strongly advised that you receive your faculty advisor’s approval before applying to any program, even if the host university or organization does not explicitly require it. This will help ensure smooth processing of institutional endorsements and avoid unnecessary delays. Thank you for your attention.
