1. Program Overview
The Graduate School of Engineering Science at Akita University invites applications for the International Program for Green Science Technology. This program focuses on decarbonization, green energy, and environmentally conscious design.
Selected students will be recommended for the fully funded MEXT Scholarship (Priority Placement).

2. Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must meet the following requirements:
- Age: Born on or after April 2, 1991.
- Academic Grades: Must have a GPA of 2.30 or higher (on a 3.0 scale) in your last or current degree.
- Language Proficiency (Meet ONE):
- English: CEFR B2 level (e.g., TOEFL iBT 72+, IELTS 5.5+) OR completed a degree taught in English.
- Japanese: JLPT N2 or higher OR completed a degree taught in Japanese.
- Nationality: Priority regions (including Southeast Asia, India, etc.).
3. Scholarship Benefits (Fully Funded)
- Tuition & Admission Fees: 100% Waived (Paid by the University).
- Monthly Stipend:
- Master's: Approx. 144,000 JPY/month
- Doctoral: Approx. 145,000 JPY/month
- Travel: Round-trip economy class air ticket (Home Country ⇄ Japan).
4. Required Application Documents
You must submit the following documents via email:
- Attached Form 5 (Application Form)
Fill in your biographical data and education history. Attach a digital photo. - Attached Form 6 (Research Plan)
Critical: You must describe your research topic in "Green Science" or "Decarbonization".
Note: You are required to contact a professor and get their consent before submitting this. - Proof of Academic Background
Scanned copies of Academic Transcripts and Graduation Certificates for all higher education.
5. How to Apply (Step-by-Step)
Step 1: Verify Eligibility
Ensure your GPA is 2.30 or higher and you meet the age requirement.
Step 2: Find a Supervisor (Required)
Browse the Akita University Faculty List. Email a professor in your field to discuss your research plan and request their consent to supervise you.
Step 3: Prepare & Submit Documents
Complete Forms 5 and 6, and scan your transcripts. Email all documents as PDF attachments to the Student Affairs Office.
