HSS MA
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras, invites applications from international students for its 2 years M.A. programs in Development Studies, Economics, and English Studies. Each stream seeks to provide an excellent theoretical base as well as market-readiness for careers across academia, publishing, policy, governance and corporate consultancy.
About the Program
Interested international students with a minimum of 60 per cent marks or equivalent grade in Bachelor’s degree are encouraged to apply. Selection will be on the basis of a qualifying examination followed by an interview. Applicants with the following subjects for their bachelor’s degree can apply for the 3 streams. - Development Studies: Anthropology, Economics, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology among others
- Economics: Economics, Engineering
- English Studies: English literature, Linguistics
Scholarships & Fees
Attractive institute scholarships for selected deserving students with excellent academic records.
₹1.5L per semester for non-SAARC countries and ₹75000 per semester for SAARC countries.
Fellowships
International students are encouraged to make independent arrangements for their semester and hostel fees. They may also avail themselves of financial assistance from funding bodies based out of their own countries. Indian Council of Cultural Relations, Govt. of India, has a scheme for international students through which fellowship can be availed of.
