Detailed curriculum information for Joint Masters Programme in Sustainable Energy Systems

Key Course Information

The MSc in Sustainable Engineering is an 18-month full-time programme comprising taught modules from both IIT Madras and Swansea University.

The programme offers opportunities for industrial engagement and a substantial research project, with the flexibility to spend the majority of your studies in either the UK or India.

Research topics will focus on areas such as renewable energy technologies, environmental monitoring, process optimisation, computational modelling, sustainable product development, and economics and policies related to sustainability.

Programme structure

There are two tracks available to you on this programme, which are structured as follows:

Track 1

Starting in July, you will complete 6 months at IIT Madras, made up of 60 credits of taught modules and an industrial placement

You will then spend 12 months at Swansea University, completing a further 60 credits of taught modules and a 60-credit major research project in a chosen area of sustainable engineering

Also starting in July, you will spend the first 6 months at IIT Madras, completing 60 credits of taught modules and an industrial placement

You will then spend 6 months at Swansea University, completing a further 60 credits of taught modules

You will return to IIT Madras to complete the programme with 6 months spent on a 60-credit major research project
