About the Workshop
The workshop aims to explore the concept of sustainability in the context of the ocean, as outlined by the United Nations’ sustainable development goals (SDGs 7, 9, 11, and 14). Drawing from the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainability 2021-2030 initiative, the goal is to foster updated knowledge and facilitate planning for sustainable ocean infrastructure. This involves promoting the cohabitation of life and development alongside technological advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI).
Specifically, the workshop seeks to introduce and demonstrate AI's latest advancements and applications, focusing on design optimization and ocean energy systems. Participants, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty members, engineers, and researchers, will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of AI’s role in ocean energy and related engineering disciplines.
Led by experts from academic, industrial, and research backgrounds from both India and abroad the workshop will serve as an interactive platform for discussion and knowledge exchange. It aims to allow participants to engage with leading experts in the field and explore innovative solutions to pressing challenges. The workshop will be hosted at IIT Madras. The topics to be covered with AI and optimization:
- Design optimization using AI algorithms for ocean engineering applications
- CFD, FEM, and FSI-related topics related to Ocean Engineering.
- Wave, tidal, wind, biomass, and floating solar energy systems.
- Aquaculture, desalination, or other offshore infrastructure for the blue economy and sustainability.
- Problems related to ports, harbors, and coastal constructions.
- Other relevant topics related to marine energy, blue economy, and sustainable development.
