About the program

The International Teaching Experience (ITE) program, organized by the office of Global Engagement at IIT Madras, offers PhD scholars an exceptional opportunity to gain valuable international teaching experience at our very own IITM Zanzibar campus. This initiative enhances the teaching skills and global exposure of PhD scholars while providing students at IITM Zanzibar with a unique learning experience.

Program Details

Duration

Three months, between October 2024 and January 2025.

Expenses Covered
  • Travel expenses to and from Zanzibar.
  • Living expenses in Zanzibar for the duration of the program.

BS in Data Science and AI

Application and Selection Process

Eligibility

  • PhD scholars currently enrolled at IIT Madras.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in teaching.
  • Strong academic record and expertise in relevant subjects.

Selection Process

Initial Screening
The office of Global Engagement will screen applications to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria.
Shortlisting
A committee of faculty members will review applications and shortlist candidates based on academic credentials, teaching experience, and statement of purpose.
Interview/ Teaching Demo
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview and a short teaching demonstration.
Final Selection
The final selection will be based on interview performance, letters of recommendation, and overall fit for the program.

Submit a letter of consent from your PI and DC members.

Statement of Purpose

Provide a statement of purpose (500-700 words) detailing your teaching philosophy, reasons for applying, and envisioned contributions to the IITM Zanzibar campus.

Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Submit a detailed CV highlighting academic achievements, teaching experience, and relevant skills.

Letters of Recommendation

Provide two letters of recommendation from faculty members attesting to your teaching abilities and academic competence

Teaching Portfolio (Optional)

Submit any evidence of previous teaching experience, such as course materials, student evaluations, and feedback.
