- Foreign students (UG) who want to apply for course work exchange are expected to have completed at least 3-4 semesters at their home institution.
- PG students are expected to have completed at least one semester at their home institution.
- The students are requested to have a minimum of 85% attendance.

- The student must be registered under a Master’s/PhD program in a recognized foreign Institute/University.
- The student should be nominated/recommended by the recognized university for the Research work, for both the MOU and non-MOU category.
- The student is requested to identify a faculty advisor they are interested to work with in IITM. They should approach the concerned IITM faculty for acceptance to be their supervisor at IITM throughout their research work with the recommendation from their advisor/guide at the home institution.
- Students are expected to have a good knowledge of English.

- The student should be nominated/recommended by the recognized university for the project work, for both MOU and non-MOU category.
- The student is requested to identify a faculty advisor they are interested to work with in IITM. They should approach the concerned IITM faculty for acceptance to be their supervisor at IITM throughout their project work with the recommendation from their advisor/guide at the home institute
- UG/PG students can apply for a student visa and PhD students are requested to apply for a research visa.
- UG students can apply for Project work.
- No, it depends on your IITM guide’s recommendation. If your guide suggests that you take few courses, you can register for the courses.

- Additional scholarships are not applicable to Embassy sponsored students.
- In case the degree you want to pursue is not sponsored by your Embassy, you can apply directly to IITM.
- Admissions to UG programs are based on JEE scores. International students need to clear the JEE Advanced exam for admissions into IITs.

- Full-time students will be admitted under the Non-HTRA category i.e. no stipend shall be provided. If a student needs financial assistance, they can contact the GE office. IITM scrutinizes each application received. The candidates are selected based on our own selection procedures.

- The students are requested to pay all their fees at IITM with the stipend received from the ASEAN fellowship.

- The program currently offers approximately 55,000 seats with more than 35,500 fee waivers and 2,000 scholarships, with each scholarship valued at INR 250,000.

- If the internship has course work requirements, students are requested to start along with the commencement of the semesters as follows;
Fall semester: Commences on July 2nd week
Spring semester: Commences on January 1st week
- UG/PG students can apply for a student visa and PhD students are requested to apply for a research visa.
- In a few cases, Embassies may provide internship visas.

Before you proceed, please read the following things carefully
- Virtual internship opportunity for all final year UG and PG students (MoU and Non-MoU category).
- No stipend or airfare would be provided.
(i) Please upload an email from your Institute’s International Office nominating you to the internship program.
(ii) The following are not required:
- Acceptance letter
- GRE/GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL
- Recommendation letter
- Passport copy
(iii) Please upload an Statement of Purpose (One page) specifying the reason for applying, broad areas of research interest, specific course duration requirements for home institute credit requirements (if any), any interest in co-supervision for a supervisor from your institution and indication of your interest in coming to IITM in the future (only if interested)
