Immigration Assistance
The GE helps international students with completing their immigration formalities guiding them through the necessary paper work.The international students are expected to register immediately with the Office of International Relations soon after their first arrival on the campus. The GE would guide through admission process before the commencement of academic sessions. The international students will be assisted by IITM students till they find themselves comfortable on the campus.
S form - Foreign Students Information System
- The FSIS (Foreign Students Information System) is used to capture information about foreign nationals admitted in Indian educational institutions. It is mandatory for all educational institutions in India admitting foreign students for various courses to register themselves first.
- The S form is to be filled at the GE office by the foreigner within 2 days of their arrival at the institute.
- Upon submission of the S form, a number of the format UGY********* is generated.
- A soft copy of this number is sent to the foreigner’s email by the GE office for future reference.
- The S form is the same as the FSIS number.
- Documents needed: Photo (less than 50kb)

C form - Proof of Residence
- Foreigners are requested to fill in the C form (Proof of residence) at their respective hostel front office/guest house office within 24 hours of their arrival to the institute.
- Foreigners are expected to collect the soft copy of their C form after submitting the same on the immigration portal.
- The C form is to be filled even for those who come under dependent visas.
- Those staying outside the campus are required to fill the C-form themselves or request their landlord to do so on their behalf.
- The C-Form mechanism helps authorities locate and track foreigners in India to enhance security and safety. Failure to comply with reporting requirements could result in fines and imprisonment of up to 5 years.
