AIDA HABTEZION

Chief Medical Officer & Head, Worldwide Medical and Safety,Pfizer

As Chief Medical Officer of Pfizer, Aida Habtezion leads Pfizer's Worldwide Medical & Safety organization responsible for ensuring that patients, physicians, and regulatory agencies are provided with information on the safe and appropriate use of Pfizer medications. Prior to joining Pfizer, Dr. Habtezion was a practicing physician and scientist at Stanford University's School of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. She is board certified in Gastroenterology in both Canada and the United States. Dr. Habtezion obtained her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Alberta and Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph. She completed her medical degree from McMaster University. Dr. Habtezion completed her Internal Medicine residency from the University of Western Ontario and Gastroenterology & Hepatology clinical fellowship from the University of Toronto in Canada. Following her clinical fellowship training, she obtained postdoctoral research training in Immunology at Stanford University.

Dr. Amit Kharat is a Radiologist (MBBS, DMRD, DNB), a Researcher (Ph.D.) in Musculoskeletal Imaging, a Professor, and a Ph.D. Guide, and today a Co-founder and the CEO as well as a Radiology Domain Expert at DeepTek Inc. Dr Amit holds a post-graduate diploma in Hospital and Health Administration and has been leading an administrative position in organisations such as the Indian Radiology Imaging Association (IRIA), States Chapter of Teleradiology Society of India (TSI), Musculoskeletal Society of India (MSS). He is certified in Artificial Intelligence: Implication for Business Strategy from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management.
He has published over 70 indexed publications, presented over 100 scientific papers at world-leading radiology conferences and holds 7 patents.

CHARMAINE DEMANUELE

Executive Director, AI/ML, Quantitative and Digital Sciences, Global Biometrics and Data Management, Pfizer Research and Development, Pfizer

Dr. Charmaine Demanuele is an Executive Director in the AI/ML Digital and Quantitative Sciences group within Global Biometrics and Data Management at Pfizer. She leads a team of statisticians and data scientists that bring end-to-end clinical trial innovation with digital health technologies, imaging and statistical, AI/ML methodologies. Her group works across Pfizer's portfolio and leverages models such as Bring-Your-Own-Device and Decentralized Clinical Trials to enable efficient, patient-centric trials and faster breakthroughs for patients. Prior to joining Pfizer, Charmaine was as a neuroscience research fellow in the UK,  Germany and at Harvard Medical School in Boston where she used multimodal neuroimaging to investigate sleep and cognition in health and schizophrenia. Her research has been published in high-impact publications and she received several awards including a prestigious Young Investigator Grant from the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation. Charmaine enjoys traveling, exploring different cultures and watching her two little girls soak in all the wonders that life has to offer.

Debashish Banerjee


Data Science and Applied AI Leader, Deloitte/ex-Novartis

Deba is a Partner at Deloitte and lead - AI and analytics offerings for the firm. Deba leads the offering for all of Deloitte in India across the industries. The next gen technologies like Gen AI, Conversational AI etc are all strategic pillar that Deloitte invests in to help their clients be ahead of the competition.
Prior to this Deba was leading data, digital, innovation portfolio for Novartis, GDD in India. He joined Novartis in 2018 to lead the charge on digital transformation for GDD in India. His primary responsibilities were multifold: to create awareness of the new, disruptive and the emerging technologies; bring in the outside-in perspective for our associates; generate new ideas and innovative initiatives / projects; support on the technical aspects of Med-Tech, Data Science and Digital projects; own and sponsor project execution for pilots and MVP’s; advice on scalability; create an ecosystem – both internal and external where innovation can thrive; motivate associates and build a culture of innovation through collaboration.
Prior to joining Novartis, Deba was Managing Director and Cognitive Leader for Deloitte Consulting in India. Ground up, he established (ground up from scratch) and led the practice of about 250 people serving clients globally and in India in the areas of data science, machine learning, predictive modeling, and AI. He was also the chair for the Executive Committee for Deloitte Analytics in India. Under his leadership, he has integrated and brought together 4000 employees under the umbrella of Deloitte Analytics.
He is a voracious reader, traveler and speaker. His publications and thought ware, has been recognized by many industries and academic conferences across India, Japan and USA. Deba has received many industry accolades e.g. Golden Leadership award in 2016 from Amity University. Analytics India Magazine has named him as one of the top 10 analytics and data science leader in India. He is also serving as a Board of Advisor for TropoGo- a first of its kind - Drone Marketplace start-up. Deba serves as an Industry Advisor for Indian School of Business (ISB).

DEBJIT BISWAS

Pfizer
Head of Development Operations for Pfizer Healthcare India Private Limited, Chennai.

Debjit Biswas is the Head of Global Biometrics & Data Management for India and Philippines, and leads the Global Product Development organization in Chennai. He is also Site Head for the Emerald site in Chennai.   In a career spanning over 22 years, Dr. Biswas has contributed as a statistician, drug developer and leader in clinical development organizations for large and small pharma, and biotech companies. He has worked in the US, India and Europe, and contributed to multiple regulatory submissions for small molecules and biologics.  Dr. Biswas is a founding member of the Indian Association for Statistics in Clinical Trials (IASCT) which was established in 2007 with the vision of promoting statistical thinking and use of appropriate statistical methods in pharmaceutical research and development programs. He is currently the India Chapter President of the International Indian Statistical Association (IISA).  Dr. Debjit Biswas received his undergraduate and postgraduate training in Statistics at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata and PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Sr. Vice President, Global Head of Biometrics and Data Management and Chief Statistical Officer at Pfizer

Dr. Kannan Natarajan is a Sr. Vice President, Global Head of Biometrics and Data Management and Chief Statistical Officer at Pfizer, Inc. Dr. Natarajan is a member of the Global Product Development Leadership team and the Deputy Chair of the Clinical Development Board, a governance body that provide strategic, scientific advice and oversight of clinical development strategy of medicines across all therapeutic categories.  Dr. Natarajan is a registered board member of Pfizer Healthcare India Pvt Ltd (PHIPL). PHIPL consists of colleagues in India supporting global Pfizer Research & Development, including product manufacturing. PHIPL colleagues in India are in offices and laboratories in Chennai and Mumbai, and the manufacturing site in Vizag. In his role as a PHIPL board member, Dr. Natarajan oversees over 600 Clinical Development colleagues located in Chennai and Mumbai offices.  Dr. Natarajan has been in the pharmaceutical industry for over 30 years, working across various therapeutic areas. Prior to joining Pfizer, Dr. Natarajan had worked at Novartis Oncology, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Abbott Laboratories. Both at Novartis and Bristol-Myers Squibb, Dr. Natarajan was instrumental in creating the India centers supporting Global development at Mumbai and Hyderabad, respectively. Dr. Natarajan holds a Masters in Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India, and a PhD. in Statistics from the University of Florida, Gainesville.

KARTHIK RAMAN

Professor at the Department of Biotechnology, Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta School of Biosciences, IIT Madras

Karthik Raman is a Professor at the Department of Biotechnology, Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta School of Biosciences, IIT Madras. Karthik’s research group works on the development of algorithms and computational tools to understand, predict and manipulate complex biological networks. Broadly spanning computational aspects of synthetic and systems biology, key areas of research in his group encompass microbiome analysis, in silico metabolic engineering, biological network design and biological data analysis. Karthik also co-ordinates the Centre for Integrative Biology and Systems mEdicine (IBSE) at IIT Madras and is a core member of the Robert Bosch Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (RBC-DSAI). Karthik teaches courses on computational biology and systems biology at IIT Madras, and has also authored a textbook on Computational Systems Biology.

Perry L. Blackshear Insititue Chair of the Department of Engineering Design at the Indian Institue of Technology Madras

Prof Krishna Kumar is the Perry L. Blackshear Insititue Chair of the Department of Engineering Design at the Indian Institue of Technology Madras. He is a highly dynamic and passionate researcher with over 47 published journal articles. Over the years his gustful research spread over longitudinal and lateral stabilty of 4WD electric vehicles, vehicle parameter identification, finite element tyre modelling, cold forging, powder metallurgy, finite element modelling of aortic valve, fluid dynamics of blood vessels etc. Apart from being passionate researcher, he is an inspiring teacher. His popular lectures on youtube include Vehicle dynamics and finite element analysis.

Madhavan Mukund

Professor and Director, Chennai Mathematical Institute

Madhavan Mukund studied at IIT Bombay (BTech) and Aarhus University (Ph.D.). He has been a faculty member at Chennai Mathematical Institute since 1992, where he is presently Professor and Dean of Studies. His main research area is formal verification. He has active collaborations within and outside India and regularly serves on international conference programme committees.
He is President of the Indian Association for Research in Computing Science (IARCS) and Vice President of the ACM India Council. He enjoys teaching. He has been the National Coordinator of the Indian Computing Olympiad since 2002 and was Executive Director of the International Olympiad in Informatics from 2011 to 2014.

Dr. Nandana Das unique perspective on integration of basic discovery research with rapid translation of novel therapies into the clinic, specifically to integrate advancements in molecular biology with clinical trials. Dr. Das supports the design, development, management, analysis and reporting of academic clinical studies in cancer, providing end-to-end delivery for academic clinical trials. The overarching goal is to translate new mechanism-driven insights of cancer biology to expedite novel therapies to the clinic.

Chief Architect and Head of Clinical & Safety Platforms, TCS ADD™, Tata Consultancy Services

Narayanan R is the Platform Head and Chief Architect at Tata Consultancy Services, leading programs in digital health and drug development platforms. He works closely with multiple pharma and biotech companies to enable adoption of digital products and solutions and transform their drug development processes and systems.
Some of his key areas of work include use of AI to enable life sciences company to bring drug faster to patients, breaking information silos to streamline patient and site experience in clinical trials and improving patient safety through automation.
Naru holds an engineering degree, with more than 23 years, of which he has spent 15 years in life sciences industry.

Rukmini Kumar


Chief Scientist and Co-founder, Vantage Research

Rukmini Kumar obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004, where she developed mathematical models to understand the mechanisms of acute, systemic inflammation. She has since spent her career at the intersection of engineering and biology, as applied to drug development in the field of Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP). Her work has contributed to scientific publications and has helped accelerate several BioPharma R&D programs in diabetes, auto-immune diseases, and cancer through her career. In 2013, Rukmini founded Vantage Research, to create deep expertise in solving the challenging problems in novel drug discovery and development. The Vantage team under her leadership works with leading companies such as Eli Lilly, MSD, Genentech, Moderna, Pfizer etc. Rukmini Kumar has a Bachelor’s in Physics (University of Madras), a Master’s Degrees in Physics (IIT-Madras) and a Ph.D. in Physics (University of Pittsburgh). Rukmini lives with her family in Chennai.

Sriram Rajamani


Distinguished Scientist and Managing Director of Microsoft Research India

Sriram Rajamani is Distinguished Scientist and Managing Director of Microsoft Research India. Sriram is an ACM fellow, INAE fellow, and winner of the Computer Aided Verification Award. His work has impacted both academic and industrial practice in programming languages, systems, security, and formal verification. He is currently working in the intersection between programming and machine learning. Sriram has a PhD from UC Berkeley, MS from University of Virginia and BEng from College of Engineering, Guindy, all with specialization in Computer Science.

Subha Madhavan heads up AI/ML, Quantitative and Digital Sciences within Global Product Development at Pfizer. Prior to joining Pfizer, she was Head of Data Science and AI within Oncology R&D Strategy at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. She has initiated and successfully directed several productive data science-driven clinical R&D programs at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, MedStar Health Network, FDA, NCI and BioPharma industry. She was co-principal investigator of the FDA’s Center for Excellence in Regulatory Science at Georgetown and worked with the Oncology Center for Excellence, Vaccines and related biological products, and Office of the Chief Scientist. She has received several awards including the Women in Tech Global award in 2021 & was on Biden’s advisory committee for the Cancer Moonshot Program.

Suresh Susurla


CEO and Managing Director, Startoon Labs

Suresh Susurla is an Electronics Engineer by qualification and training. He holds a master's degree from IIT Madras and an executive degree in Business Management from IIM Calcutta. In his 19+ years of work, he has worked at various levels in Tata Motors, Siemens, IIT Madras and a couple of startups before incorporating Startoon Labs in the year 2017. Suresh has co-authored 11 international publications, traveled abroad to present the work at international conferences in the fields of medtech, spacetech and edtech. He is a co-inventor of four filed and published patents. He has independently authored a book on Electronics and Communication Engineering that sold internationally and distributed by WILEY. He serves as an Honorary Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Bharath Group of Institutions, Chennai and as a Guest Faculty at Center for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi. Suresh is a Certified internal auditor for ISO 13485 standards of medical devices by TUV-NORD. He is a member of "The Institution of Engineers of India" incorporated under the Royal Charter 1935. Currently is the the CEO and Managing Director of Startoon Labs Private Limited, a five and half years old Medtech Startup, headquartered at Hyderabad Telangana.

Vinayak Naik


Professor of Computer Science and Professor at APPCAIR (a center for AI Research), Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani

Vinayak Naik is an OPERA-awardee Professor of Computer Science at BITS Pilani, Goa. He is faculty at APPCAIR, a center of excellence in Artificial Intelligence at BITS Pilani. He received his Ph.D. in CSE from Ohio State University in 2006 and BE in CS from VJTI, Mumbai, in 1999. He is a member of the Research Advisory Council of D Y Patil International University, Akrudi, Pune. Before joining BITS Pilani, Vinayak was with IIIT Delhi, IISc, and UCLA. He was a Research Advisor to the CTO of TCS and a member of Governing Council of NIDHI Technology Business Incubator (TBI) at the Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar. As a visitor, he spent time as an Associate Professor at IIT Bombay, a Researcher at Microsoft Research, and a Researcher at VMWare R&D. He was felicitated with the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award'16 for using mobile and sensors for healthcare.
